Serafico di Assisi celebrates 155 years

The Seraphic Institute of Assisi celebrated 155 years on September 17. Founded by San Ludovico da Casoria, the institute originally established itself to provide education to deaf and blind children who were excluded from standard schools due to their disabilities.

Francesca Di Maolo, president of the Seraphic Institute of Assisi, stated that the organization works to support families facing the isolation caused by a child's severe disability. She noted that the institute aims to bring children, teenagers, and young adults who risk social exclusion back to the center of community life.

While the institute began as an educational center, it evolved to meet the medical and sanitary needs of those with severe disabilities. The current staff includes doctors, nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, and professional educators who work as a team to care for the people entrusted to them.
