Netflix releases new series of East of Eden

Netflix released a new series based on John Steinbeck's novel East of Eden on October 1, 2026. Zoe Kazan, the niece of director Elia Kazan, adapted the novel for the series and serves as an executive producer and co-showrunner.

While the 1955 film adaptation focused on the conflict between Cal and Aron Trask, this new series follows the Trask family across two generations and begins earlier in the story. Florence Pugh stars as Cathy Ames and also serves as an executive producer. The cast includes Christopher Abbott as Adam Trask, Mike Faist as Charles Trask, and Hoon Lee as Lee, alongside Ciarán Hinds, Tracy Letts, and Martha Plimpton.
