Sessione autunnale della CEC del 10 e 11 settembre 2026

The Calabria Episcopal Conference met on September 10 and 11, 2026, at the Regional Seminary “S. Pio X” in Catanzaro to discuss regional church life and social issues. Presided over by Archbishop Fortunato Morrone, the bishops approved a revision of the conference regulations, which had not been updated since 1982.

During the session, bishops reviewed a new training project for future priests. Bishop Giuseppe Rega of S. Marco Argentano – Scalea presented the draft, which incorporates feedback from seminarians and presbyteral councils to align with synodal practices. Father Mario Spinocchio, rector of the regional seminary, introduced the 2026-2027 academic year, while Father Antonio Russo reported on the seminary's finances. Additionally, Father Giuseppe Fazio provided an update on the current status and training plan for the preparatory year.

The bishops also discussed youth activities, including oratories and the path toward the 2027 World Youth Day in Seoul.
