Si è aperto il ciclo “Francesco: Segno vivo”

The San Francesco church in Prato began a series of meetings titled "Francis: Living Sign – History, Body, and Peace: The Gospel Lived" on September 17. The program honors the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi.

Professor Matteo Caponi, a historian of contemporary Catholicism, delivered the opening lecture titled "Francis in History: Interpretations and Relevance of a Prophet." Caponi discussed how people of the saint's era viewed him as a messenger of a new direction for the Church. He noted that biographers emphasized Francis's prophetic nature and his unique status as a recipient of the stigmata.

The event was introduced by Francesco Marchese, the curator of the San Francesco monument complex, and the parish priest, Monsignor Carlo Stancari.
