Sisters of Charity of Nazareth celebrate St. Vincent de Paul’s Feast Day

The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and their Associates will celebrate the feast of St. Vincent de Paul on Sept. 27. The community will hold a prayer service to ask for the ability to see Christ in those who suffer and to prepare their hands for service.

In a letter to the congregation, Sisters Jacky and Amrita said St. Vincent challenges members to recognize the face of Christ in people affected by poverty, hunger, war, and natural disasters. They encouraged the Sisters and Associates to accompany others with compassion and protect human dignity.

The prayer service includes a memorial for those lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and prayers for people facing floods, displacement, trafficking, and isolation. During the service, participants may light a candle or lamp to symbolize the presence of Christ and the call to bring light to others.
