Škof Saje ob 125-letnici posvetitve cerkve v Šmartnem pri Litiji: Najpomembnejša je gradnja žive Cerkve

Bishop Andrej Saje celebrated Holy Mass in Šmartno pri Litiji on September 20, 2026, to mark the 125th anniversary of the consecration of the parish church. The church was originally consecrated on September 15, 1901, by Bishop Anton Bonaventura Jeglič.

During his address, Bishop Saje thanked the families who built and maintained the structure. He stated that the purpose of a church building is to provide a place where people encounter God and grow into a living community. He described the church as a symbol of a Church where everyone has a place.

Bishop Saje encouraged parishioners to focus on building a community that will pass on the faith to future generations, alongside their efforts to care for the church building and the construction of a new parish home. He also noted that every person is called to participate in the life of the parish.
