Diocese of Milano celebrates two years of SOLEdarietà

The Diocese of Milano marks two years of the SOLEdarietà renewable and solidarity energy community. Established in mid-September 2024, the project was created by Caritas Ambrosiana and the San Martino and Santa Maria Goretti parishes within the Giovanni Paolo II pastoral community in the Greco district of Milan.

The energy community uses two photovoltaic systems to produce clean electricity. One system, located on the Refettorio Ambrosiano, has been operational since late 2024 with a potential capacity of 14.4 kilowatt. A second system, installed on the Santa Maria Goretti church, has been operational since May 2025 with a potential capacity of 84.15 kilowatt.

These facilities produce energy for self-consumption, while any surplus power supports local services for people without homes, including the Greco church and parish, Rifugio Ambrosiano, and the La Piazzetta day center. The project received technical and economic support from Edison and Banco dell’Energia.
