Di Benedetto states that the Church risks becoming a place focused on utility and performance if members measure spiritual value based on seniority, visible commitment, or important roles. He notes that this mindset can lead to clericalism and cause tensions, jealousy, or rivalries within communities between established groups and new movements, or between highly active members and those who participate occasionally.
