Spiritan Conference of Circumscriptions of Africa and the Islands, EFESIA partner for interfaith dialogue workshop

The Spiritan Conference of Circumscriptions of Africa and the Islands and the Belgian interfaith association EFESIA will hold a joint workshop on interfaith dialogue from September 6 to 10 in Nairobi, Kenya. Held at the Rosa Mystica Spiritual Centre, the five day event aims to strengthen how the Church engages with Islam and African Traditional Religion.

The workshop brings together 25 participants from Europe and across West, Central, East, and Southern Africa, as well as the Indian Ocean islands. Organizers noted the importance of this mission because Christians, Muslims, and followers of African Traditional Religion often live, study, and share family life together on the continent.

This initiative follows a mandate from August 2024 in Antananarivo, Madagascar, where Spiritan leaders and formators requested that the Coordinator for Dialogue support provinces and create a manual to revitalize interreligious engagement. The workshop utilizes the newly developed Practical Manual for Spiritan Animators of Ecumenical and Interreligious Dialogue. EFESIA, which focuses on Christian and Muslim friendship, is partnering in the training program.
