Spiritans challenged to move beyond revised manual

Spiritan priests from Africa and the islands are meeting in Nairobi for a workshop to develop practical ways to promote interfaith dialogue. The workshop, which runs from September 6 to 10, focuses on building the capacity of current and future dialogue coordinators within Spiritan provinces and groups across the region.

During his opening address on September 7, Fr. Henry Omwoyo, the Vice-Provincial Superior of the Spiritans in Kenya and South Sudan, urged participants to move beyond simply updating a manual. He encouraged the members of the Spiritan Conference of Circumscriptions of Africa and the Islands to leave the gathering with renewed conviction, practical ideas, and a stronger network of spiritual commitment to dialogue.

Fr. Omwoyo also called for honest sharing regarding both successful methods and existing challenges. He noted that the diversity among the different regions could allow one group to learn from the experiences of another. The Spiritan Province of Kenya is hosting the event at the Rosa Mystica Guest House in Nairobi.
