Spiritans in Africa Urged to Support Colleagues Serving in Areas Affected by Religious Tensions

Spiritan members across Africa are being encouraged to support colleagues working in regions facing religious tensions and violent conflict, according to Father Sylvestre Olivier Eves. Speaking on September 7 during an interfaith dialogue workshop in Nairobi, the Belgium Coordinator for Interreligious Dialogue noted that many Spiritans serving in these areas experience post-traumatic stress and crises.

Father Eves stated that superiors will consult with the General Council to find people capable of accompanying members living in conflict zones and to organize psychological support. The workshop, hosted by the Spiritan Province of Kenya, runs from September 6 to 10 at the Rosa Mystica Guest House.
