Archbishop Lori rededicates St. Francis of Assisi in Fulton

Archbishop William E. Lori rededicated the renovated St. Francis of Assisi church in Fulton on Sept. 17. The ceremony marked the completion of summer renovations that transformed the building from a multi-functional space into a permanent church.

The upgrades include ceramic tiles, wooden pews, a larger sanctuary, and permanent confessionals. The parish also added a dedicated space featuring a new organ for its music program. Previously, the building functioned as a flexible area where chairs could be stacked to create classrooms or event spaces.

During his homily, Archbishop Lori stated the worship space was dedicated to the honor and glory of God. He noted the timing coincided with the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi. Siobhan Cooney, the pastorate director of faith formation at St. Francis, described the building's history of growth from its early days to the current structure.
