Allyson Schue shares personal struggles with mental health, addiction

Allyson Schue shared her history of mental health struggles and addiction during an upcoming episode of the Relevant Radio program Practicing Catholic. The episode, hosted by Leah Heselton and Father Tom Margevi?ius, is scheduled to debut September 25.

Schue, a parishioner at St. Paul in Ham Lake, described experiencing severe depression starting at age 15. She noted that physical health issues, including a hiatal hernia, insomnia, and frequent illness, contributed to her difficulties. During her sophomore year of high school, a mental breakdown led her to enter a partial treatment program for several weeks.

Schue also spoke about her brother, who struggled with addiction starting with marijuana and later died at age 27 from a fentanyl overdose. She described him as her best friend during their childhood.
