St Peter’s Parish Supports Operation Christmas Child
St Peter’s Catholic Parish in Gorleston is collecting shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child and inviting people across the Diocese of East Anglia to participate in the appeal.
In September, a group of children and adults from the parish assembled pre-printed shoeboxes. These boxes will be distributed to parishioners during an upcoming Sunday Mass to be filled with toys, school supplies, and personal-care items. The filled shoeboxes will be returned to the parish between November 9 and November 16, when they will be blessed before being sent to children globally.
Operation Christmas Child is an international Christian charity and a project of Samaritan’s Purse. Volunteers Mark and Debra, who serve on the organization's Church and Community Relations team in Norfolk, spoke to the parish group about how each box provides support to children facing loneliness, war, or natural disasters.
