Diocese of Darwin marks feast of St Vincent de Paul

The Diocese of Darwin observed the feast of St. Vincent de Paul on September 26, 2026.

In a reflection, Cruz Ignatius noted that Vincent transitioned from a humble background and early legal troubles to a life dedicated to serving the poor. After organizing practical support for those in need with the help of several women, Vincent co-founded the Daughters of Charity alongside St. Louise de Marillac. This congregation continues to provide food, shelter, and support for single pregnant women and the homeless.

To address the spiritual neglect of people in rural areas, Vincent also established the Congregation of the Mission, also known as the Vincentians. This order of priests and brothers focuses on preaching missions and improving the education of clergy in seminaries.
