“Stop the Circular Firing Squad”: CIC Co-Founder Calls Traditional Catholics to Unity

Eric Frankovitch, a co-founder of the Catholic Identity Conference, urged traditional Catholics to seek unity during his closing remarks at the 2026 conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on October 4, 2026.

Frankovitch told attendees that the movement must stop attacking its own members, describing such internal conflict as a circular firing squad. He stated that traditional Catholics face enough external challenges without engaging in friendly fire. He argued that while people may disagree on strategy, ecclesiastical arrangements, or how to respond to the current crisis, they should not treat fellow Catholics as enemies simply because they use different approaches to preserve the faith.

Drawing on the teachings of the late British author Michael Davies, Frankovitch noted that those working to preserve the traditional Mass should maintain charity and courage toward one another.
