Swimming Upstream: Teachers who changed our lives

Joe Pisani of the Diocese of Bridgeport reflected on the spiritual impact of teachers who influence students through mercy and compassion rather than worldly success. Writing for the diocese, Pisani noted that many educators achieve monumental spiritual milestones that often go unacknowledged because they allow God to work through them.

Pisani highlighted specific educators, including Mrs. McGrath, Brother Thellen, Norman DeTullio, and Joseph Foran, as examples of people who left lasting marks on their students. He also mentioned a teacher at Greenwich Catholic Middle School who taught for 25 years and professed her perpetual vows in 1963.
