Tanzania Episcopal Conference encourages Religious Sisters to use AI

The Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) is encouraging religious sisters to study and use artificial intelligence to advance their missions and the work of the Church. Father Charles Kitima, the TEC Secretary General, made this call during an AI training seminar organized by the TEC Social Communications Directorate at the conference headquarters.

Father Kitima advised the sisters to use the technology to improve skills in areas such as project writing and resource mobilization to support their work with vulnerable families and communities. He noted that while sisters live consecrated lives, they should not isolate themselves from scientific and technological developments.

The Secretary General cautioned the participants to critically assess artificial intelligence before adopting it. He stated that the sisters should use the positive aspects of the technology to strengthen their congregations and promote human dignity while ensuring they do not compromise Catholic teaching.
