Ten years since Pope Francis canonized Mother Teresa, remembered in Papua New Guinea

Catholic communities in Papua New Guinea are marking the tenth anniversary of the canonization of Mother Teresa.

Father Brian Nonde CMM noted that Pope Francis declared Mother Teresa of Kolkata a saint on September 4, 2016, during a ceremony in St. Peter's Square. That event drew thousands of people, including homeless individuals who were given honored seating to witness the occasion.

The anniversary coincides with the Church's celebration of her feast day. Father Nonde highlighted that both Mother Teresa and Saint John Paul II visited Papua New Guinea, leaving a lasting impact on the nation.
