The Backstory on David Henrie’s Wedding Proposal to His Wife

Actor and EWTN+ host David Henrie shared details on his Instagram account regarding the tenth anniversary of his marriage proposal to his wife, Maria. Henrie proposed on October 7, 2016, which was the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.

To prepare for the proposal, Henrie planned a surprise that involved a helicopter ride. He noted that he had contacted Maria's school district to arrange for a substitute teacher so she could take the day off. Although the couple had originally planned to include friends, Henrie said the group kept canceling until only the two of them remained for the occasion.

Henrie stated that the couple had been dating long distance for over a year and a half before the engagement. He intended the proposal to be a joyful way to move past the difficulties of their long-distance relationship. After touring Catalina Island, the couple went to the St. Junípero Serra Chapel, where Henrie proposed in front of the altar.
