The Charity of Christ Impels Us

Students and staff at Nazareth Academy in Gaya collected and sorted supplies to help people affected by flooding in Patna and the surrounding areas. On September 12, the school organized the donations, which were packed into trucks for distribution.

Principal Sister Anita Tigga and her team of teachers and staff coordinated the effort by contacting parents and alumni to communicate the urgent need for relief goods. This recent collection follows a history of disaster relief at the school, including responses to floods and earthquakes in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as aid for Bangladeshi refugees during the 1971 crisis. During the 1967 famine, Sisters James Leo, Eugenia, and Ann Roberta worked with teachers and students to feed nearly 5,000 people daily in relief camps.
