The Pope: Where light meets heaven

Pope Leo XIV spoke during Evening Prayer at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, noting that seven years have passed since the fire that destroyed much of the structure. He described the cathedral as a symbolic place for the Church in France and a living center of civilization where the past and future meet.

The Pope observed that the collective effort to rebuild the cathedral shows how the site serves as more than a monument. He stated that the restoration by public, private, and Church institutions helps reawaken spiritual and cultural journeys for visitors. He added that the beauty of the restored space calls restless hearts to peace.
