The Son of the Vineyard – Word and Art with Bishop Dolan

Bishop John Dolan reflected on the Gospel parable of the vineyard tenants through the lens of a watercolor painting by James Tissot titled The Son of the Vineyard.

The reflection, released on the twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time, examines the passage from Mt 21: 33-43. In this parable, a landowner entrusts a vineyard to tenants who mistreat and kill the servants sent to collect the harvest, including the owner's son. Tissot's artwork depicts the scene following the death of the son.
