Bishop Timothy Freyer urged attendees to practice radical hospitality during the There’s More celebration at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Aug. 22. The event served as a kickoff for a campaign to inspire the faithful to welcome all people to the Catholic Church and marked the 50th anniversary of the Diocese of Orange.

According to officials, the gathering was one of the largest diocesan events ever organized and the first to use a major offsite venue. Bishop Freyer told the crowd, which included between 10,000 and 11,000 people, that parishioners should approach those who appear new, nervous, or confused to welcome them. He stated the initiative is an invitation for people at every stage of faith, including those who have never attended church and those returning to the faith.

During the event, Bishop Kevin Vann encouraged the faithful to recognize and follow their specific vocations.
