Authorities in Callao, Peru, are preparing to build a 14-meter statue of Pope Leo XIV. The project is intended to honor the Pope's pastoral work and charitable activities in Callao during the Covid-19 pandemic.

If completed, the monument will be the tallest statue of a pope in Peru. Officials expect to finish the construction before the Pope visits Peru from November 11 to 16, 2026.
