Lay theologian Consuelo Vélez says everyone is called to the Kingdom of God regardless of when they arrive. Writing for the Al partir el pan series, Vélez reflected on the Gospel parable of the vineyard workers who were hired at different hours of the day but received the same pay.

Vélez noted that knowing Jesus for a long time does not guarantee a person will live the Kingdom of God to its fullest. She emphasized that the call to the Kingdom remains open to all people at any time.
