Tomo II — Los Obreros, Nueva Dimensión

The Diocese of Loja has released the second volume of a commemorative work marking 150 years of evangelization within the Diocese of the Immaculate Conception of Loja. Titled The Workers, New Dimension, this volume contains chapters IV through VIII of a historical study coordinated by the diocesan historical commission.

The book traces the origins of doctrines and parishes, documenting the history of the 81 ecclesiastical parishes from the establishment of El Sagrario–La Catedral in 1568 to more recent foundations. It also details the religious orders and congregations that settled in the diocese starting in 1548, including the Dominicans, Franciscans, Jesuits, and Salesians, as well as various male and female communities.

Additional sections examine the Catholic laity, covering the history of the term, notable laypeople in Loja, and how lay organizations changed before and after the Second Vatican Council. Bishop Walter Heras Segarra oversaw the project, while Jaime Bravo Cisneros, president of the historical commission, coordinated the edition. The work was printed by Editorial Don Bosco.
