Pope Leo XIV called on the Diocese of Rome to evaluate its pastoral work during the opening of the new pastoral year on September 18, 2026. Speaking at the Basilica of Saint John Lateran, the Pope encouraged the community to spend time listening, discerning, and assessing completed activities rather than continuously starting new ones. He suggested that the diocese should do less but perform its tasks better.
