Una nueva cruz se levanta: Brasil inicia la construcción de un monumento de 102 metros

Construction has begun on a 102-meter monument cross in Cruz Alta, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Work started in early September at the Parque Municipal Antônio Carlos Gomes Nunes using 30 million reais in public funds.

The project aims to establish the site as a religious and tourist attraction for the city of nearly 60,000 inhabitants. The planned complex includes gardens, a theme park, an orchard, and a cable car. Visitors will be able to climb to the horizontal arm of the structure to reach a panoramic lookout point.

Mayor Paula Rubin Facco Librelotto and architect Alisson Maidana signed the development agreement on September 4. The design was created by Henrique Rocha and Luan Vieira from the Santini & Rocha Arquitetos studio. While municipal authorities have promoted the structure as the future tallest cross in the world, it will not surpass the 152.4-meter cross in the Valle de los Caídos.
