Vatican Diplomacy & Vance’s End Times

Vice President J.D. Vance expressed openness to his work contributing to the end times during an August 31 interview with YouTube host Bryce Crawford. Vance told the Evangelical host that he is doing as much of God's work as possible and is comfortable if that leads to the apocalypse.

In previous social media posts, Vance suggested that focusing too much on the end times can be harmful, though he noted a fascination with the subject. He also previously stated that certain global conditions make him feel it would not be shocking if the antichrist were present in the world.

Massimo Faggioli of Commonweal notes that these comments reflect a theology different from the one used in Vatican diplomacy. This follows a period of tension between the Trump administration and the Vatican, which included verbal attacks on Pope Leo XIV from Donald Trump and Vance.
