Vatican group to discuss AI, human dignity with world leaders at UN General Assembly

The Laudato Si’ Center for Higher Education is meeting with world leaders in New York to discuss artificial intelligence, human dignity, and the common good. The Borgo Dialogues began on Sept. 20 and will run until Sept. 23 alongside the United Nations General Assembly.

The invitation-only meetings bring together leaders from business, finance, academia, healthcare, sports, civil society, and international institutions. Participants will address topics including how AI transforms work, healthcare, and sustainable development. The discussions center on the question of what is being built, for whom, and who will inherit the results.

Cardinal Fabio Baggio, the director general of the Laudato Si’ Center and founder of the Borgo Dialogues, said the meetings provide a space for leaders to engage difficult questions and build trust during a time of institutional fragmentation. The program began in June with a meeting at the Vatican and draws inspiration from the encyclicals Laudato Si’ and Fratelli Tutti by Pope Francis, as well as Magnifica Humanitas by Pope Leo XIV.
