Vatican names committee for ‘Amoris’ meeting report
Pope Leo XIV has appointed an 11-member committee to review the concluding report of the Amoris laetitia meeting before it is published. The committee will examine a draft synthesis report summarizing the discussions from the Oct. 7-14 gathering, which was called to mark 10 years since the publication of the apostolic exhortation on family life.
Father Giacomo Costa, S.J., a consultant for the General Secretariat of the Synod, stated during a Vatican press conference on Oct. 9 that five committee members were selected from the 16 speakers on the first day of the meeting. The selection process aimed to include one representative from each continent and at least one member from the guest families attending the event.
The meeting includes 187 participants, such as representatives from all 115 episcopal conferences and all 15 self-governing Eastern Catholic Churches. Other attendees include 22 personally invited prelates, 11 members of the organizing team, and 22 people representing guest families.
