Vatican Official Urges Participants at Youth Forum in Kenya to Leverage on Technology to Promote Diversity

Fr. Taucen Hotlan Girsang urged young people at the Annual Interfaith Youth Forum in Kenya to use technology and social media to promote diversity and combat misinformation. Speaking on the first day of the September 18–19 event at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, the priest, who serves as the vice director of the General Office for Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation in Rome, said that promoting diversity helps strengthen dialogue and peaceful coexistence.

The two day forum used the theme "Youth in Faith, Renewable Energy Access for Fair and Peaceful Elections in Kenya." Fr. Girsang, a member of the Order of Friars Minor from Indonesia, told participants that their creativity, energy, and networks allow them to influence the future and address community challenges. He noted that Kenya's religious diversity, which includes Christians, Muslims, Hindus, and followers of traditional African faiths, should be used to build bridges rather than create divisions.
