Vatican to publish Pope Francis’ private diary
The Vatican Publishing House will release a book titled The Private Diary of Pope Francis on Nov. 24. Written by Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, the prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, the volume presents and comments on notes kept by the late pope from 1992 to 2024.
The book covers more than three decades, including the pope's time as a bishop in Argentina and his 12 years as pope. Andrea Tornielli, the editorial director of the Dicastery for Communication, said the text offers readers a deeper understanding of the Argentine pope's inner life.
The release will occur simultaneously in five languages across 94 countries. The Vatican Publishing House will handle the Italian edition, while Penguin Random House will publish the English, Spanish, and Portuguese versions. Éditions Albin Michel will publish the French edition. The Vatican Publishing House is scheduled to present the book to international publishers at the Frankfurt Book Fair, which runs from Oct. 7 to Oct. 11.
