Vaticano: Papa pede que inteligência artificial seja transformada em «instrumento de paz»

Pope Leo XIV called for the development of artificial intelligence to be guided by wisdom and charity to turn technological innovation into a tool for peace. In a message to participants of the first AI4Peace international symposium, the Pope stated that technological progress must serve the dignity of every person in a world marked by conflict and division.

The message was read during the opening session by Father Andrea Ciucci, the chancellor of the Pontifical Academy for Life, at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. The Pope encouraged experts to explore how artificial intelligence can promote dialogue, reconciliation, and solidarity between peoples through an authentic concern for the well-being of others.

The symposium is a joint effort by the United Nations University for Peace, the Pontifical Academy for Life, and the Pontifical Lateran University. Organizers intend for the event to become a permanent international platform held every two years to facilitate dialogue between scientific research, diplomacy, economy, philosophy, and religion.
