Verso un nuovo insegnamento della religione a scuola

Sapienza University in Rome will host a conference on October 6 titled "For a conviviality of differences: Towards a new teaching of religion in school." The event is organized in collaboration with the Federation of Evangelical Churches in Italy, Noi Siamo Chiesa, and the Biblical Association of Italian Switzerland.

The conference addresses whether the current model for teaching religion remains suitable for modern Italian schools and society. This model was established following the revision of the Concordat between the Italian State and the Catholic Church.

Organizers note that while Italian society has become more pluralistic and more people identify as non-religious or follow non-traditional spiritualities, religion remains a significant factor in politics, social debate, and collective identities. The discussion seeks to move beyond simply trying to maintain religious education classes and instead explores how understanding religious phenomena serves as a tool for understanding contemporary history, art, and culture.
