Viana do Castelo: Diocese inicia Ano Pastoral marcado pelo jubileu diocesano, com apelo ao fim da «crispação» nas comunidades cristãs

The Diocese of Viana do Castelo began its 2026/2027 pastoral year on Saturday at the Paulo VI Pastoral Center in Darque. Dedicated to the theme of rebirth, the year coincides with the diocesan jubilee celebrating the 50th anniversary of the diocese.

Bishop João Lavrador called for an end to tensions, hatred, and rivalries within Christian communities. He stated that such conflicts are not Christian and urged members to live in communion and love so that all people feel comfortable within the Church.

The bishop described the jubilee year as a biblical opportunity for a new beginning and a chance to recognize God's grace through concrete actions. He also emphasized the need for a more missionary Church capable of transforming customs and lifestyles.
