Viseu: «Cada um de nós é uma pedra importante neste Município» – D. António Luciano

Bishop António Luciano presided over a Mass in honor of São Mateus to mark the Municipality Day in Viseu on September 21, 2026. During the celebration at the São José parish church, the bishop told the community that every individual serves as an important stone in the construction of the municipality, which he described as being composed of fertile lands, willing people, and many Christians.

The bishop addressed modern challenges such as global armed conflicts and the rising cost of living, telling the congregation that while everything else can be taken away, faith cannot. He noted a lack of love for God, Jesus, and others in the world today and urged people to build more fraternal lives through families, schools, society, and local government. According to a diocesan note, Luciano stated that government and community actions must always prioritize the well-being of the human person. The celebration concluded with a solemn procession through the streets of Campo de Viriato.
