Bishop D. Fernando Paiva starts pastoral visit to Mértola

Bishop Fernando Paiva of Beja began a pastoral visit to the communities of Mértola on Tuesday, September 29. The bishop will visit parishes, chapels, and small communities throughout the territory, including the town of Mértola and more remote locations, until Sunday, October 4.

The visit began with a reception and prayer at the Mértola Mother Church, followed by a meeting with local mayors and authorities. During the upcoming days, Bishop Paiva plans to visit schools, social institutions, and volunteer firefighters. He is also scheduled to meet with catechists, pastoral workers, and those preparing for confirmation.

On Saturday, the bishop will participate in a program marking the 25th anniversary of the death of Father Manuel José de Pinho. Throughout the six day visit, the bishop will share prayer and the Eucharist with local communities and eat meals with various families.
