Why Do We Call the Archangels Saints?

The Church refers to the archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael as saints despite their nature differing fundamentally from canonized human saints, according to Catholic Exchange. While these are the only angels named in Scripture, their essence remains that of a purely spiritual and immortal substance.

St. Aloysius of Gonzaga described angels as beings immune to disease, aging, and death, possessing an intelligence free from error and a will that never wavers. These characteristics contrast with the lives of earthly saints, who often suffered from physical ailments and human limitations in knowledge and willpower.
