In a homily, Bishop Galea-Curmi noted that Saint Francis's life was defined by a focus on Christ rather than simple admiration or devotion. The bishop explained that after meeting Christ, Saint Francis shifted his focus away from worldly values such as wealth, fame, and social status to make Christ the center of his life. Referring to the Gospel, the bishop stated that Saint Francis sought to follow Jesus by denying himself and carrying his cross daily.
