With their playoff slump broken and a pope on their side, the White Sox want more this October
The Chicago White Sox will face Cleveland in the AL Division Series starting Saturday in Cleveland. The team advanced to the series after sweeping the Houston Astros in the AL Wild Card Series, marking their first playoff series victory since 2005.
Manager Will Venable stated that the group is not satisfied with the series win. The White Sox secured the victory with a 7-3 win fueled by a three-run home run from Chase Meidroth. The team is scheduled to play its first home postseason game at Rate Field on Wednesday.
The White Sox became the only team in major league history to qualify for the playoffs following three consecutive seasons with 100 losses. Before the series opener, Pope Leo XIV sent a letter of support to the team.
