Working document released in advance of the National Synodal Assembly

Delegates for the National Synodal Assembly have received a preparatory working document ahead of the meeting scheduled for October 17, 2026, in Gormanstown, Co. Meath.

Delegates from the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin met with Bishop Denis on the evening of September 24 to prepare for the assembly. They are scheduled to meet again on October 7. The seven Kildare and Leighlin delegates include Fr Ger Ahern, Deacon Jody Callan, Cathríona Kelly, Matt Lawlor, Deacon Patrick Roche, Victor Souza, and Sr Ann Walsh.

Other members of the diocese will participate through working groups, including Hilda Campbell, Gerard Gallagher, Dr Oonagh O’Brien, and Michelle Ward. Additionally, Julie Kavanagh will serve as a member of the National Synod Team, while Jean Roche will attend as a staff member of the Irish Episcopal Conference.
