World Day of Migrants: Caritas Zambia Urges Government to Strengthen Refugee Protection and Integration

Caritas Zambia is calling on the government to improve legal and policy measures to protect refugees, migrants, and displaced families. In a press release issued Monday, September 28, to mark the 112th World Day of Migrants and Refugees, the organization urged officials to strengthen the integration of these groups and increase their access to economic opportunities.

Father Gabriel Mapulanga, the executive director of Caritas Zambia, stated that caring for displaced people is a moral responsibility based on Catholic faith and human dignity. He noted that the organization stands in solidarity with migrants and children moving throughout the nation and the region.

Addressing the theme of this year's observance, Father Mapulanga emphasized that every child in Zambia, including refugees, deserves equal rights such as education and protection. He said that the organization remains committed to supporting vulnerable populations and pursuing justice for forcibly displaced youth and families.
