Youths at Interfaith Forum Want Renewable Energy Agenda at the Heart of Kenya’s 2027 General Elections

Youths participating in the Annual Interfaith Youth Forum in Kenya want politicians to prioritize renewable and affordable energy during the 2027 general elections. Following a two-day event held September 18–19 at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, participants pledged to create a renewable energy manifesto for political candidates.

The forum participants stated that the upcoming elections must address both the energy and climate crises while maintaining peace, integrity, and social cohesion. The event concluded with a climate procession.

The forum is organized annually in September by Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation Franciscans Africa alongside the Laudato Si’ Movement Africa, the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, and other partners. This year's gathering included young people from various faiths, universities, secondary schools, non-governmental organizations, and religious congregations from across Kenya and East Africa.
