ZAMBIA: Prelate Urges Service to the Poor as Ndola Archdiocese Remembers Late Bishop Denis De Jong

Archbishop Benjamin Phiri has called on Christians in the Archdiocese of Ndola to care for the sick, respect the rights of others, and serve the marginalized to honor the memory of the late Bishop Denis Herold De Jong. The appeal came as the archdiocese marked the 23rd anniversary of the death of its third bishop.

Archbishop Phiri described Bishop De Jong as a man of faith, humility, and peace who dedicated his life to the welfare of the vulnerable. He encouraged the faithful to practice these values by treating everyone with dignity and promoting peace through active faith.

Parishioners at St. Antonio Fassani Parish in the Ndola Deanery also recognized Bishop De Jong for his compassion toward the underprivileged. Speaking to Radio Icengelo News, parishioners credited him with being a voice for the voiceless and fighting injustices against the poor.
