Zusammenarbeit von Staat und Kirche / Neuer Eichstätter Bischof Würtz staatlich vereidigt

Christian Würtz was sworn in by the state on Friday as the new bishop of Eichstätt. During the ceremony at the Prinz-Carl-Palais, the 55-year-old bishop swore allegiance to Germany and the state of Bavaria before Bavarian Minister President Markus Söder.

Würtz placed his right hand on a book during the oath, with a crucifix on the table near the text of the oath. He is scheduled to be installed as bishop at the Eichstätt Cathedral on October 4.
