A small panel painting by El Greco was venerated as a sacred object for approximately 150 years in the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin in Hermoupolis, located on the Greek island of Syros.

The tempera and gold leaf work measures 24.2 by 17.7 inches. It depicts the death of Mary surrounded by the apostles and the risen Christ.
