The Colombian government announced in February 2026 that it discovered the remains of Father Camilo Torres. The discovery allows for the burial of the priest, who became a prominent figure in Colombia.

Born in Bogotá in 1929, Torres served as a parish priest, university chaplain, and sociology lecturer after earning a doctorate from the Pontifical University in Louvain, Belgium. He was also an advocate for farm workers and a writer. In 1965, Torres joined the National Liberation Army, a left-wing guerrilla group, stating that revolution was a necessary way for Christians to practice universal love. He died in 1966 during an attack by guerrilla fighters on a Colombian military unit. His grave remained unknown until this discovery.
