Bishops from the Puglia Episcopal Conference met on September 10 and 11 at the Pio XI Pontifical Regional Seminary in Molfetta to discuss several regional topics. Archbishop Giuseppe Satriano of Bari-Bitonto, president of the conference, introduced the proceedings following an opening prayer.

The bishops discussed a public notice regarding sports spaces in oratories issued by the Department for Sport of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. To help local communities apply, the assembly established a regional commission. This commission includes Archbishop Leonardo D’Ascenzo of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie, regional youth ministry leaders Davide Abascià and Vito Paniello, Enzo Vergine from the Archdiocese of Otranto, and Giosy Mangialardi from the Archdiocese of Bari-Bitonto.

Other topics addressed during the meeting included youth formation in vocational discernment and end-of-life issues. The bishops also met with Bernardo Capozzolo, the new Luogotenente of the Ordine Equestre del Santo Sepolcro di Gerusalemme (O.E.S.S.G.), to discuss the institution's support for the charitable and social works of the Patriarchate and the Custodia di Terra Santa.
